Outreach Group 1 - Schools

 

 

Requirements for schools:

  • Submit a one-page letter from an Administrator addressing two issues/challenges that students face (500 words max)
  • Submit a school marketing plan - how do you and your students plan to market the Freedom Writers' visit and book sale? For example, with posters, announcements, school bulletin, email campaign, media (250 words max)
  • Consider providing copies of The Freedom Writers Diary for one of the groups listed below*
    • All attendees
    • All students in one grade level
    • All school administrators
    • A library set
    • A classroom set
  • Permit the sale of The Freedom Writers Diary at the event itself 
  • Provide 1-2 volunteers to assist with the book sale/signing table
  • Cover all of the travel expenses of the guest speaker/s (some rare exceptions possible)
  • Consider offering a speaking honorarium to compensate the speaker/s for their time and talent 
  • Fill out the online application (see link below) 

*We will consider your application even if you are unable to fulfill all of the requirements listed above.
