The Scholarship Program provides full financial and academic support to students with financial or familial instability, students who are the first in their families to graduate from high school and attend college, students for whom English is a second language, students with minor learning disabilities, and students who were at risk of dropping out of high school.

The program has funded partial and full scholarships for Freedom Writers to attend the college of their choice to pursue their bachelor's degrees, and some are working toward their master's degrees and teaching credentials.  Currently the scholarship program supports students with backgrounds and academic experiences similar to those of the Freedom Writers.
