Below is a sample student contract teachers can use when compiling student diaries in order to protect privacy and encourage respect among students.

STUDENT CONTRACT

I,_____[student name]_____ agree to adhere to the following ethical code of conduct.  I understand that if I violate any of the provisions stipulated in this Honor Code, that I will be removed from __[teacher's name]__'s class.

I will be self reliant.

I will always strive to be honest and demonstrate integrity.

I will be a tolerant and open-minded individual.

I will treat all members of the _[group or class name]__ with dignity and respect.

I will not embellish or sensationalize my autobiographical incident.

I will not duplicate or distribute any of the stories created by the members of _[group or class name]__.

I will not disclose my story or my assigned book number to anyone.

I will not ask any member of the _[group or class name]_ to reveal their number or autobiographical incident.

Outside of the confines of _[teacher name]__'s classroom, I will not discuss any other person's autobiographical incident of which I become aware.

I will strictly adhere to each book deadline.

I will be a fair, conscientious, and respectful editor.
